Covenant/Agreement for Spiritual Direction

Commitments in Our Relationship: You are meeting with me as your spiritual director to explore your life with God. Spiritual direction is the contemplative practice of helping another person increase awareness to the presence of God and respond to God in a growing relationship of freedom and commitment. I am not a coach, mentor, accountability partner, pastor, or advisor. Rather, my role is to provide prayerful support, active listening, discernment, and encouragement in an environment of safety and acceptance. 

Although discussing psychological and relational difficulties is sometimes appropriate in the context of spiritual direction, a spiritual director is not a therapist or counselor and does not provide such services. 

I will hold our conversations in strict confidence. I will not reveal the content of our conversations unless I am required to do so by ethics, law, or court order. One exception to this policy is if I believe you are a danger to yourself or another person. In addition, I may take a portion of our conversation to my own supervision, which keeps me growing as a spiritual director. If I do this, I will be careful to change your identifying characteristics in such a way that your identity will not be recognizable to others. However, you are free to share whatever you choose about our conversations with anyone.

We commit to begin and end our sessions on time. If you wish to change your appointment, you will let me know at least 24 hours in advance by text and/or e-mail. I will not call or send you reminders for the sessions. 

I meet with directees in my home on Thursdays (7:00-9:00pm) & Saturdays (12:00-5:00pm). My fee is $70 for an hour session. I ask directees to pay as they are able for my services $40-70 per session.
